IBRAFE Strengthens Ties with Chinese Buyers During Beans Route from Brazil to China

The Brazilian Institute of Beans, Pulses and Specialty Crops (IBRAFE) advanced another stage of its strategy to internationalize Brazilian products during Beans Route from Brazil to China, held in Qingdao, China.

Organized by IBRAFE in partnership with ApexBrasil through the Brazil Superfoods project, the meeting presented buyers and industry representatives with the competitive potential, quality and sustainability of Brazilian beans.

The initiative is part of IBRAFE’s mission to Asia and focuses on preparing the sector for a future opening of the Chinese market to Brazilian beans. Although Brazilian products still depend on market authorization before entering China, the work of building closer ties has already begun.

During the meeting, the organization sought to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese buyers, identify the cultivars generating the greatest interest and understand the technical specifications required by the market.

The strategy is based on a fundamental principle for the production sector: understand demand before putting seed in the ground. This way, if the market opens, Brazil will be prepared to supply the types of beans sought by importers, with the appropriate characteristics and standards.

“Those who sign contracts in the future are the ones building bridges today. Brazil will not wait for the market to open before getting organized. We want to enter with the right product at the right time,” says IBRAFE President Marcelo Eduardo Lüders.

Beans Route brought together authorities, buyers, exporters, industry representatives, partners and guests, creating an environment for dialogue and the exploration of new opportunities between Brazil and China.

Every contact made during the mission helps strengthen the international presence of Brazil Superfoods, an initiative by IBRAFE and ApexBrasil focused on promoting Brazilian beans, pulses and specialty crops abroad.

More than presenting products, the initiative seeks to build long-term relationships, anticipate market needs and open new paths for Brazilian exports.

From Brazil to China, bridges are being built even before the market opens.
